How to Read a Kratom Certificate of Analysis (COA)

By David Hahn ·

Lab-tested kratom powder with a Certificate of Analysis

A Certificate of Analysis, or COA, is a lab report that tells you what's actually in a product. For kratom, it's the single best proof of quality — and if a vendor can't show you one, that's a red flag. Here's how to read one.

Mitragynine Content

Mitragynine is the primary alkaloid in kratom leaf, and a COA reports it as a percentage. It's usually measured by HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography), a standard laboratory method. Our recent batches average around 1.6% mitragynine — a number we can point to because we have the reports to back it up. See our lab results page for the details.

Contaminant & Safety Testing

A thorough COA also checks for what shouldn't be there: heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury), microbials (like salmonella and E. coli), and mold. Clean results here are what separate a carefully handled product from a questionable one.

Why We Test in Two Countries

Most vendors test once, if at all. We test our kratom leaf twice — first at the source in Indonesia, then again in the USA. Testing on both ends confirms the numbers and gives you real confidence in what you're getting. It costs more and takes longer, and we think you're worth it.
